Health / Wellness Coaching vs Psychotherapy: What are the differences?
Coaching and psychotherapy may share some of the same techniques and goals, the process is typically different. Coaching aims to assist clients with solution focused, typically short-term strategies to improve clients’ ability to confront medical challenges and create healthy, concrete plans to increase wellness. Coaching taps into clients’ creativity and desires to improve their functioning with the use of homework assignments, and focuses mainly on external issues, and circumstances which may block a client’s potential for improved health. The focus is on present and future behavior.
Psychotherapy, which may work hand in hand with coaching, typically focuses on the present and perhaps past causes of present behavior, while working with clients to improve their functioning. Psychotherapy may also involve homework assignments, but may focus on past trauma or mental health issues that lead to difficulties with current functioning.

We accept CareFirst, Medicare, and Medicaid. If your insurance is not listed, we will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits.
